Waterfowl Hunting Gear Review: The Hudson Bibs from Sitka

For waterfowl hunters, waders and bibs are about as essential as it gets, and a bad pair of these items can lead to long, miserable days in the blind or in the field. Sitka has been getting great praise for years now for their waders and bibs, and last winter got our hands on the Sitka Hudson Bibs. These things are gold.

Getting into both the experience and the review, it is necessary to bring up one key factor that makes these bibs what they are: GORE-TEX. GORE-TEX has no parallel when it comes to gear that is lightweight, durable, waterproof, and breathable — and after all, these are probably the most key factors when it comes to a good pair of bibs for waterfowl hunting.

When the names Sitka and GORE-TEX come together, you know expectations will be high, and in the case of these bibs, expectations were both met and exceeded. It is clear out of the gate that these bibs were designed by hunters. They are not cumbersome or restrictive to wear, and range of motion is supported with these bibs. You do not want your bibs to be restrictive or slow you down when you quickly need to be in the shooting position. And further proving waterfowl hunters had their say in the design process, these bibs have enhanced durability though reinforced material on the rear and puncture-resistant knees.

Finally, a little insulation from fleece goes a long way on those cold days in the field. This plus protection from getting wet and cold from the wind makes for bibs that are simply as good as it gets, and in our book, they are the best out there.

Thee Sitka Hudson Bibs are available in Waterfowl Marsh and Waterfowl Timber patterns and cost $549. The size options range from Medium to 3XL. To learn more about the Sitka Hudson Bibs, please click here.
